They have hills and trees, and the green grass seems to go on forever. It looks gorgeous, but they're out there every day working on it. It may look effortless, but it is not.

I still don't understand why the guy pulled out the trees though. Trees on green grass are lovely. They make the home inviting. A HUGE lawn with no trees just doesn't do it for me.Colettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09469668551025004035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8596242010718863777.post-26237968080506395902008-07-12T00:56:00.000-04:002008-07-12T00:56:00.000-04:00First I've got to comment about rowena's comment a...First I've got to comment about rowena's comment and say that having grown up in Florida, I can attest to many different types of grass. There is grass for walking on and grass for, well, shoes. You can guess which one is more popular with the lawn people.

Your story reminded me of new neighbors we ended up with. AFter they filled the empty land with their ranch-style home, they planted palm trees. We had oak trees in our yard. And I can say that when the wind came tearing across the lake, we didn't get tossed around like cheap toys. They did.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8596242010718863777.post-32944381829602893172008-07-11T12:02:00.000-04:002008-07-11T12:02:00.000-04:00My uncle, down here in Florida, got rid of all his...My uncle, down here in Florida, got rid of all his grass during a drought and planted what is called "xeroscaping." or is it zerascaping? zeroscaping? xerascaping? something like that.

I think he gets thought of as the crazy guy with the haunted house around her, with all the trees and ferns and vines and bushes, but I like it.

And grass in Florida isn't that nice soft under the feet grass of the north east. It doesn't belong here, I think.

But anyway, not very many people get to see the lush garden jungle that he has in his back yard. They are missing out.Rowenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07146077261663557342noreply@blogger.com
